My cousin who is going to be a freshman in college is interested in dentistry. Is it too early for her to start shadowing?

Doesn't matter. Do it a few times to help her know if it interests her, but don't invest too much time shadowing yet. Too many predents jump ship to podiatry these days due to the flashy life style, I'd wait until you get closer.

I just finished 1st year and started this summer.
I know friends who started in high school.

I think it's never too early to shadow your future profession because you may find that you don't like it. I'm shadowing a dentist right now and I'm reconsidering my career choice.

Good luck~!

Yeah its a good idea to start early, just he/she realizes that dentistry isnt for him/her. Also, it will give them enough time to shadow different dentists and get different views and perspectives. Im glad I have shadowed around, I have gotten some dentists that are burnt out and seem to not like their job and some that love their job...

It's really never too early to start hanging around dental offices...I knew I wanted to go into dentistry a LONG time ago, and actually started shadowing and helping out at my orthodontists office the summer before highschool. lol, overkill yes, but i enjoyed it a few hours a day during the summer.
