Hello All,

I have a question regarding hours and a very concerning situation I have found myself in.

How exactly are hours tracked for Med School for various activities ? Are they reported all at once or does the application count it for you based on the dates you give.

My situation: Over the weekend the computer was broken at the Hospital I volunteer at and I forgot to sign in on the paper sheet they put there to compensate so my 3 hour shift did not get tracked. I have my own excel spreadsheet where I track all of my hours and I added this three hour shift into the spreadsheet.

However in the official system online it doesn't show the three hours as logged and there is now a difference between my spreadsheet and the official tracking software the hospital uses for volunteers.

If I report my own spreadsheet hours on my medical school application will I get in trouble ? If the med school calls the hospital I volunteer at and asks for my hours then there will be a difference of three hours and they will think I am lying to them.

What should I do in this situation and if someone could please explain to me how hours are tracked, reported, and verified I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Nobody is tracking hours down to the minute. If you're within like 5-10% accuracy and giving your best judgement it's fine. I approximates based on a weekly obligation over a period of time minus a percent of holidays/absences.

At the end of the day u gotta make sure ur on the same page as ur verifiers

I didn’t track down shiyte I just eyeballed my hours and asked my verifiers if they thought that was a fair amount and that’s it
