How exactly do LORs work?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post, so I'm not sure how this forum works completely or if this has been answered already.

I will be asking my professors soon for LORs. I just wanted clarification/tips on a few things:

1) How did you ask your professors, and what did you provide them with? (resume, thank you letter, extra-curricular activities, leadership roles, etc)

2) Did you provide them with a small gift/thank you letter afterwards?

3) I am asking them to send individually, so how exactly does this work? Where exactly do they fill it out online through AADSAS? Do they fill it out once June 2nd comes around and the app opens or do they send it in to an address?

4) I know schools require different letters, but if I collect 4 letters, can I decide which ones to send out to each school to tailor to their needs?

2. Up to you.
3. You enter their email and information into AADSAS, it sends them a link to upload the letter, they upload it and you're done.
4. All letters that are submitted are sent to all schools applied to. Some schools will directly accept other letters and may add them to your file if necessary.
