How exactly do secondaries work?

Hi all!

So I'm a bit confused about how secondaries work.

I submitted my primary on the 30th, and am waiting for my committee letter to be processed, and I take my DAT on July 14th

-So will schools send me a secondary? If so, do they communicate via email?
If not, can you fill one out at any time for that school?

-When is it considered "early" to have them done?

If someone could fill me in I'd really appreciate it. My pre health office hasnt really explained much of the process, so a lot of this is new to me.

Some schools will email you for the secondary application and/or fee after they review your app. For some schools, you have to submit the secondary before they review your app. Some schools don't need it at all. Look at the secondary application requirement in the ADEA guide book for each school.

Ohhh ok I see. So if it doesnt say "submit when an admission officer contacts you", then you do it at your own time? When is a good time to submit?

Nope, you're pretty early. I didn't find out about that at the end of September for a couple schools.

Not really. It's not like they receive it right away anyway.

You can look at the ADEA book, but I personally went on the school's websites to make certain. Go to their admission requirements and look for secondary app info. Most of the schools I applied to last year required them. Some you have to do it online and complete questions/essays. Others, you just send in a check and a form. But, look it up specifically!
