how far down on ROL?

Given that one man's trash is another's treasure, I have read in a thread that most people in EM match in their top three. Most residents claimed that all of their residents ranked their respective programs in the top 3. How common is it to go down on the ROL to say 5 or 6? I understand that any program on my list is fair game and that most people would agree that a rank list of 9-10 is solid, but I am curious about those stories of people who have gone deep, deep on the list, you know T. Brady style.

I ranked 15 & about 5 intern spots. I got #1 for EM and #1 for my intern (transitional) year. That's deep enought for me. If I'd gotten #15, I'd a been happy too. Good luck to all the 4th years out there! I can't believe a year has passed already!

Why do you care? Rank as many programs as you'd be happy going to. Most match in their top 3 choices, it's uncommon to go down as far as 5th or 6th, going to 9th or 10th is pretty rare, but you don't want to be one of the schmucks who only does a short rank list then doesn't match when they could have.

Yeah, what Sessamoid said. 👍 I've heard too many stories of people who were convinced they'd match at their top choice so only ranked a few programs, and then wound up scrambling in the end. Too scary for me .

can i ask what type of credentials you had? step, gpa, etc?

I ended up ranking 8, matched at my #1.
