how far down the rank list do programs go?

this must be super secret info but i wonder...

most programs probably compete for the same bunch of applicants within their "tier" meaning they might go pretty far down their rank lists. Esp the competitive places i would think. that's prob why not hearing yer "ranked to match" doesn't mean jack.

5 deep for how many spots? I could see one year but every year? Seems a little unlikely unless your program is top ten derm.

I wonder what percentage of people they interview programs actually rank?

I had a faculty member at a universally accepted top 5-10 program tell me that they go really far down their rank list sometimes because they really rank who they want and have no interest in guessing at how applicants will rank them. Some other programs I think have more interest in gaming the rank list to match with their top few applicants.
