About 10 or so yrs ago, i bought a program called AcceleREAD to help with speed-reading, which helped me greatly. it incorporated a series of eye exercises that I completed weekly.

I see the product is now called EyeQ on http://www.infmind.com , it has a free demo on the site. I just took it, says i read 693 words per minute.

BTW...i also got a high score on the reading/comprehension side of the MCAT 😉

Pretty fast - always have. If interesting, I can read most normal-length novels within a few hours. Textbook-wise, if I'm concentrating and just highlighting (not taking notes), it usually takes me around 2 minutes to read a page.

Evidently not high enough to comprehend that there is no "reading/comprehension side" of the MCAT. 😉

cute...thanks for stating the irrelevant. at least Blade28 knows what i mean--sharp one.

i took it 3 yrs ago...give me a break...

I am a slow reader, but I comprehend theories and general principles well and retain information well.

Coincidentally I always do horrible on verbal reasoning and reading comprehension stuff because I suck at telling you "what the author meant by this passage" kind of stuff.

It's not how fast you read that matters it's how well you read when you're high.

faster than probably 99% of medical school population- one good thing from law school.

reading speed (with comprehension tied in) does matter on shelf exams. Some of those can be brutal with time for some people. A hard (or long/wordy) shelf exam for me means that I will only get through the test 2x or so. If it is not long/wordy, I can usually get through it anywhere from 3-5x. To date, I have never run out of time on an exam. Knock wood.

300 wpm 🙁 would I be able to finish the shelf exam next year???!

I read at lightning speed but I don't understand a thing.👍
