I was just wondering what would be a typical "good" or "great" score for the GRE when applying to a Post-Bacc? Are they looking for 1200-1300 or are they expecting a little more (1400-1500)?

I guess a better question would be, "what kind of score is necessary to get into most Post-Bacc programs?" Most of the websites only say they need a GRE score but don't give a baseline of what is necessary to be competitive.

Thanks for the help!

I don't know anything about the GREs, but on the old scale, you'd need an SAT score of at least 1300 (many have higher) to get into the top programs. I don't know how strongly SAT scores correlate with GRE scores.

I have not heard of any postbac programs that require the GRE. Where are these? Are you talking about SMPs?

Anyway, there are many top postbac programs that do not require the GRE (sometimes they require SATs, though). If I were you, I would apply to these and same your money/study time for MCAT prep.

Most programs require the SAT or the GRE. So, if an applicant's SAT scores are less than impressive, they will likely opt to take the GRE and send those scores instead.

I actually never took the SAT but did take the ACT. I received a 26, which is mediocre, but nothing to write home about. I have a 3.67 and thought I would need better scores to get into a respectable program.

Which programs are well respected that might take scores like this? (I plan on apply to mainly Osteopathic schools after postbacc)

Thanks for your help!

Well, PCOM has a postbac program, so that might be a good choice for you. Bryn Mawr actually just this year added PCOM to its linkage list, as well -- the first DO school to appear there, and the terms of linkage are quite favorable.

I really don't know much about the ACT, but if you think the score is mediocre, it probably won't fly at the top programs. Your GPA is quite solid, though, so I suppose it's worth applying.

Newman,

I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help, you have been very helpful in your responses to all of my questions!
