Assuming I do the feasible: buy a car there, pay some taxes, license and registration in MD,
Barring the ridiculous and improbable like marrying someone from MD.
It seems the one caveat is proving intent that you want to live in Maryland. That seems somewhat ambiguous. They list activities like volunteering in the MD community or earning income outside of work study as positive influences in this decision.
So in sum my plan would be:
1. Buy a car and register it in MD
2. Register all my licenses in MD
3. Volunteer in MD and join some community-oriented organizations
4. Pay taxes and file returns in MD
5. Register with the selective service as a MD resident
6. Change all my official accounts and etc. to my MD address
7. Sign a written statement that it is my intent to live in MD (this alone isn't enough proof to be considered a valid rebuttal)
Pretty huge (and disgusting difference) between IS and OOS as it is for most schools. Tuition alone for in state is 40k about while for OOS it's 80k. Doing the math, if I am lucky enough to get in state after 1 year my total debt burden (with cancerous plus loan interest rates) would be a bit over 300k which is perfectly doable for me. If I get it after 2 years it will be a hair under 400k (terrible but I could deal with that). And if I don't get jack it's gonna be about 500k+ which is a hell no from me.
Did some research on these forums and got mixed answers from previous posts. Just seeing if any students from UMB have any more current experiences. Dental tuition is getting disgusting, interest rates are becoming the definition of usury, and our "sagacious" lawmen sit there doing nothing.
