Yo BigRed,

Did your recruiter tell you anything about the % of acceptances for the 4-year scholarship? I was working all day when my recruiter called, and I just missed him while he was walking out of the office when i called him back. thanks

Sorry he didn't tell me anything about %, I will ask him the next time I talk to him. Let me know what your recruiter tells you.

It's not just GPA and DAT. I was looking into the program and I was told my previous military experience (including combat action) was a huge factor. Since I was in the Navy, I was told I was almost a sure thing. But, the AF is the most competative out of the three branches so who knows??

Congrats to all who got into the program!

I'd really like to do the program..I grew up outside an AFB and really enjoy thre airforce. My parents are both veterans of the Airforce during the Vietnam era..Dont know if that helps..

What other criterias besides GPA and DAT scores? LORs?

LORs are big, there are essays, ect just like applying.

I don't really think it is that competitive. The department of defense actually sent me a letter stating that i was conditionally accepted to receive the scholarship as long as i passed the physical and background check. All i did to receive this was talk to my recruiter and send him my DAT scores and trancripts. He said that my stats met a certain criteria and that they guarenteed me the scholarship. He contacted his authorities and they sent the letter to me. If you are competitive enough to get accepted to dental school then you are definitely competitive enough to receive the HPSP.

Got it! Now just reading all this paper work. Pretty excited. He didn't say anything about %, but he did say that 26 got accepted. I am not sure if that means for 4 year scholarships of all the other ones.
