John9192 is correct- aside from schools who severely limit their applicant pool with cut-offs that apply to QR also, most schools don't rely on QR to be an accurate indicator. I know for a fact they they are viewing the QR very lightly this year due to the "irregular and sporadic" scores that have come in. There has been a below-average QR trend among students with 20+ on every other section. To still accept these desirable applicants many schools are not applying QR to their cutoffs- UCSF is a good example of this (and who wouldn't want to go there?)- they have a 17 minimum on all scores but are not applying that this year to QR. I'm sorry to the 7 of you out there who got a normal QR test and scored a 20+ , or those who have older QR scores (before May) but that same score on any other section is gonna mean a lot more. They have good reason to do this. You only need basic math skills in dental school. I saw a personal statement come in where the applicant said, "Having attained three gold certificates in the National Mathematics Challenge, I have the academic mettle to handle this demanding course" and the reader actually laughed out loud because the applicant thought that his math skills could save his horrible science grades. So no worries to all of you who do well in all sections but QR.
