Does PT school in Texas have rolling admissions like medical schools?
I want to know if applying early is crucial for the admission process. I'm planning on studying for GRE during the summer but utmb application starts on July 1st. I don't know if I should just prepare for month right after my semester ends or study for 2months of summer and apply in mid August.
Any advises please?

I'm not sure which specific schools in TX have rolling admissions. To find out, go to the PTCAS website and check it out.

But, if a school does have rolling admissions, it is basically (though not always) first come-first serve. So, I would surmise it is important. Though, I cannot say for certain.

Applying early is very very important for schools in Texas. I applied to UT Southwestern very early and got in on the first round of interviews on September 23. They notified me of acceptance by September 25th! So I think its important to get it in as soon as you can. I applied to Texas Tech early and got in on their first round of interviews also. I knew of my acceptance to Texas Tech by December, but some people are still being accepted so I don't think it's as important with Texas Tech. I applied to UNT before the deadline, but late in the process and they rejected me for that reason. Good luck, and start filling out your application as soon as possible!

P.S. Texas schools do not use the PTCAS system so you will just have to look up their deadlines online. 🙂

Another piece of advice, if you're just worried about having time to study for the GRE submit the rest of your application and get in touch with the schools admissions coordinator to ask if it would be okay to submit your GRE scores last. Just an idea

Most schools are Rolling admissions, which means they start sending acceptance letters from the start. Get your application asap! An extra month to prepare for the GRE is great, but you would really have to study, and not just procrastinate for the first month (with a mindset that you have another month). My experience with preparing for the GRE was so tiring, I wouldn't have wanted to do it for 2 months lol.

Wow that's pretty incredible, being notified of acceptance from SW after 2days. If you don't mind, can you tell me your stats? (gpa, GRE, school, major, etc)

Sure!
Overall GPA: 3.75
Pre-Req GPA: 3.5
Bachelor of Science-Biology from West Texas A&M University
GRE: 1010 (not great but I think as long as it's over 1000 on the old scoring system its fine)
800+ hours as a PT tech in both a private practice and a hospital.

I think UT Southwestern really looks at experience and GPA the most.
