How important are scores?

I'd be interested to know people's opinion about how important USMLE scores are for a FMG going into Psych. I did my USMLE in a bit of a hurry and passed the first time but didn't get stellar results. Now i've got good letters, Dean's letter, have worked an intern in Psych in Australia. How badly will below average Step 1 and 2 scores bite? Any thoughts appreciated.

Totally depends on where you want to go!!! You'll find a spot if you interview well and are not extraordinarily picky about where you apply. There are a few places that may even offer you a spot outside the match (which is allowed for FMG's).
