I am applying this upcoming cycle (hopefully) and so far I have

1 science letter
1 research letter
1 non-science letter
1 D.O. letter

I've been involved in a few EC's with the same director for a while now, would it be a good idea to have him write me a letter? I didn't want to get excessive with the LORs since most schools ask for 2 or so.

Also, the non-science letter I have is from a Physical Anthropology class and I just saw that it is listed as a science, would schools not accept this as a non-science letter?

Any advice is appreciated!!🙂 Thanks

I would not be too worried about schools not counting physical anthropology as a non-science I really do not think they are that strict. One of my science letters was from a math professors. Just make sure that your letters say something about you. The DO letter is key as many of the schools require it so good job being ahead.

Good Luck!

If you can get it then get it...

It won't hurt anything and different schools ask for different letters. If nothing else you may be able to send in additional letters if you get wait listed.

from my experience this cycle, none of the schools i applied to asked for specific non science letters nor did any of them actually require it. most did specify 1 or 2 "hard" science letter. they explained "hard" as biology, chemistry, physics... not psychology, etc. and it had to be a faculty that you took a class with and TAUGHT you. my research pi lor didn't meet this requirement so i got an additional lor from my chem prof. all the details for each school's in the cib.

Thanks for the replies!

Can you send more than the required number of letters? Or is that something you do only if you get wait listed? I really want them to send them my PI letter (she knows me the best) but most schools are asking for science and D.O. only.

...suggestions??

i sent more than the required letters for every school i applied to other than dmu (which is where i'm going to go!). dmu specifically said to not send in more than they required letters... which was i believe 1 DO and 2 science faculty if i remember correctly. my PI's letter never made it to dmu which sucked at the time cause that was probably my best letter too!

DMU seems to be a really good school! Congrats!!

Awesome, I think I will do the same and send in maybe 2 more letters, did you use Interfolio by any chance? Hearing stories about how letters never made it schools gives me goosebumps :scared:

Thanks!
