Hey everyone, I'm just wondering if first year biology is really important when it comes to med school (courses, getting in, making it easier on the work you get from the knowledge from the course). I'm just asking because I've bascally gotten a 3.5/4.0 on all of my upper level bio classes and the only thing that looks ugly is my 1.9 in my first year bio class. I dunno if I should retake it cause the class, since i took it, hasn't gotten better....the profs still are horrid and the course work is confusing when compared to the lectures in class. It's a headache i'd rather not relive but if it would help me later on i'd retake it. i just wanted to make sure if I did retake it that i didn't waste my time or money (or sanity) on it

Well I'm guessing when you say you got a "1.9" in your first year of Bio, that means you got like a D+ in the class.

I would, in that case, definately take the class again. It would show med schools that you are serious about changing your grade, and make the D+ not look as bad.

ya, re-take. it would be awful to be held back because of a silly thing like freshman bio!

anything you do during your undergrad career (good or bad) will leave a permanent scar on your GPA... i would just retake, ace and move on... show them you can do better in upper division classes😎

Figure out why you got the D+ and try to fix that before you retake...ie was it the professor, were you working etc... BUT DO RETAKE and ace it!
