Another thread to stir some conversation...

How important are leadership and tutoring to medical schools? Of course compared to healthcare activities they may not be as important, but in ADDITION to these activities, what do you think it shows adcoms?

Looking forward to hearing your responses!

Well, a physician is essentially a leader in medicine/medical team. Ideally, you want to get some leadership experiences to understand what it means to lead others but still be an effective team player.

I've never seen anyone overly impressed by teaching/tutoring. Perhaps because chem tutors are ubiquitous.

Real leadership involving the leading of large a group of peers over a year or more, or during a short intensive period (taking charge of student-workers during alumni weekend) is noticed and commented on favorably.
