How important is research for top residency programs?

Just wondering....
I am working on a public health research that might not be publishable for another year or two. On the side, I am doing small research and management with a couple attendings and directors to improve certain activities for residency programs.


These are by far not as impressive as getting a paper published in Nature or something
I am just wondering.........

Very important for top programs, though getting an article in Nature is not necessary.

Agreed. Top programs want to produce as many pubs as possible. The more they see you helping, the better.

It is definitely better than not doing it, but publishing is the ultimate goal.
