I interviewed at Albany this year. They gave us the stats for the average class... I think they were around 3.4 and slightly below 30.
The things that impressed me about Albany were their admissions staff and process. They had, I think, the most fair way of dealing with applications. You had an interview, you were reviewed within the week by the committee, and then sent an email regarding your status (accept, waitlist, reject). The admissions staff and faculty that I met were very helpful and friendly. I even got a congratulatory letter from my interviewer on my acceptance. The students also seemed very happy and very laid back. There seemed to be a real comraderie in the class.
The things I personally didn't like about the school were the location (not much to do), the lack of patient contact in the first 2 years, and the fact that the students were a little TOO laid back for my taste. It just didn't match what I wanted out of med school.
If you get an interview, definitely go. I know many people whose initial lukewarm feeling toward the school became very positive after visiting.
