I am a new graduate from this year, and I am choosing the place where I would like to work and live. I want to live in LA area, and I know it is one of the two most saturated area in the state.
I understand that you earn much less, maybe half, compared to working in some more rural area, but I still want to live in LA if it is affordable.

Problem is that I have a loan from dental school, so I need to earn some reasonable amount of money.
Is there any distant, relatively rural, area, maybe less saturated than near city, within doable driving distance from the city, where I can get reasonable amount of salary? I believe the salary and job offer differ by the years of experience as well. but I am talking about for new grad or dentist with one year experience. What would the salary be in general?

Anyone who is working in cali, even with low income, plz give me some comments.

Thank you.

If you're looking at any major city in California you will have to make some sacrifices (aka broke). I was born and raised in LA and I knew I couldn't go back there as a dentist and have a comfortable life right out (didn't want to live with parents).

I don't think many offices offer salary, all the ones I've looked into is collection. There are not many places reasonably outside the city that is cheap. You would have to be in the valley or IE if you want cheaper but those places are far

I’ve worked in SoCal area. 450 ic which is about 400 a day after taxes... or about 500 day w2 seems to be the norm. I moved out of Cali and associated in other non saturated states. 600-800 was more norm.

Do you mind if I PM you with some questions? I am unable to PM you currently.

I have close classmates who only graduated couple years ago and they make 600 base even at a medi-cal office (in the LA area. Between 405/110 and 118/10 freeways). My friend has been trying for months for me to move to Bakersfield for 700+ a day. PM me if you want his info for that referral.
