Is this a group actually appreciated by adcoms (for this reason), and would it actually be considered a "meaningful" EC by most people?
Eh. It depends on the leadership positions which exist. Many have said that these clubs are full of meaningless leadership titles. I would say the ones that would afford you the most responsibility would be president/vise president, treasurer and secretary. Being the designed pizza order guy isn't a big deal. However, anyone who understands leadership knows that it's not really about the titles. You can be an effective leader in most any capacity. Overall, I would say "no", to that question. It wouldn't make sense anyway if you were a leader in a club that didn't really do anything.I have great shadowing and volunteering covered, but no real leadership. Would it be worth it for the sole benefit of a leadership position?
I was in a selective pre-med honors fraternity --- no school gave a f**k. But that's ok, because I met a lot of awesome people and it was a good time overall. So join if you want, but I wouldn't do it to impress med schools.
edit: it could be an opportunity for a leadership position, so I suppose that's something to consider.
No.I have the chance to join phi delta epsilon (a pre-medical chapter of the international medical fraternity). They like to throw around the statistic that 92% of their members gain acceptance to medical school, and from what I've seen there is a fair amount of selectivity.

lol. Craaaap I joined like four honor societies early in my college career. I do have leadership positions with two of them. Do I even mention the others on my upcoming app @LizzyM and @Ismet and @Catalystik? Sorry to hijack.I'd never heard of it until today. I guess I wouldn't be impressed.
mention them if you wish but I doubt that anyone will care. It can look like padding if you didn't do anything aside from attending meetings.lol. Hmm definitely don't want that. I got small scholarships from them and went to pretty much went to all their functions aside from regular meetings. Hopefully, the rest of my app will speak for itself. Thanks for the clarification.mention them if you wish but I doubt that anyone will care. Okay, got it! Thank you.You could group the small scholarships under Honors with your other honors. If Phi Beta Kappa is one of them, some adcomms feel it's worth mentioning.
