How is TS Calculated?

One last question for the day...

How is the Total Science score calculated? Is bio weighted because it is 40 questions, not 30?

Here were my scores... Bio:20 GC:20 OC:23. Using an unweighted average this comes out to be exactly 21. My average came out to be a 20???

Even if I weight the sections .4, .3, .3 respectivly you still get a 20.9... rounding to 21

For comparison, lets look at the "Will I Get in" thread...

I just took the DAT.

Bio:19 GC:20 OC:17 Agian using a straight forward average this guy gets an average of 18.67.... His actual average = 19... makes sense.

Here weight by the same figures above, you get an average of 18.7... rounding to 19.

I don't know if you will get a concrete answer on this. I think (by no means, don't quote me on this...) it also has to do with the percentiles. When the search icon is back up, this topic was talked about in the past and someone had always attempted to answer this. Even still, I always had a difficult time understanding what they were saying. I agree, it would be nice to know how they come up with the TS score.

it has to do with the total number of questions that you got wrong. they're deducted from the total score and it is used to calculate TS.

On the DAT Score Report sheet, it reads verbatim...

"The Total Science score is a standard score based on all 100 questions in the Biology, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry tests. It is not the average of the three science standard scores."

I had the report right in front of me while reading this thread. But in any case, my average should have been a 23 if one were to average 20, 26, and 24 for my science sections. I can imagine a lot of people with this same discrepency.
