I'm a military reservist whose MCAT test date was thrown off by orders to active duty for a period this summer. Originally had planned to sit in early June. I'm at at top 5 school carrying a 3.9+ c-GPA & s-GPA. My practice scores were in the 34-36 range but I'll need a few weeks of cramming for everything to come back to me...only hit a 31 the other day after being away from the material for 6 weeks.

Already submitted my primary, have my LOR's lined up and ready to go, and intend to pre-write secondaries in the 4 week window between my test date and score release date. I'm looking at a mid-August date right now and would be fully complete: 2ndaries, LOR's etc by mid-Sept. AKA under 24hr turn around on secondaries.

Am I severely hurting myself this cycle b/c of the timing? My EC's should really stand out, tons of volunteering associated with VA hospitals etc, Veteran status, paid my way fully through school, & 2.5 yrs of research with 2 pubs in review (hopefully update letter fodder). I feel like I'm a stronger applicant with rather unique EC's coming from a HYPSM school, will that fact cut me some slack from traditional SDN conventions on being late? I'm generally targeting top 20's aside from my home state schools
