how late can you take step 1?

I was wondering if you have to take step 1 early enough so that your grades are back and you pass before you start rotations or do you just have to take the exam before rotations begin. Say your 3rd year starts july 5th.. can you take it like july 2nd or do you have to take it a few weeks earlier?

I don't know about other schools, but at my shcool you can take the test whenever you want, the only requirement is that you have to report a score by some given deadline early in third year (not sure what the deadline is) Some people took the test the day b4 rotations started. In theory you can take it after the rotations start.

For transfer students its different. Most can't start their rotations until they report a passing score on step 1. The policies differ from school to school.

Check with your school for the official policy used by them

Depends on the school. Here, you have to take Step 1 before third year begins, so you won't know your score until partway through the first rotation.
