Is there a thread that tells how late in the year schools typically send out interview requests? (Like when is the best time to expect a solid shot at the school--not a last-minute fill-in for someone who withdrew.)

I am really interested in University of Michigan. I have been complete for over two months but have not heard anything. Is this a bad sign or is this still early in the game for this particular school? Same with Northwestern and Case. Have these schools already chosen the bulk of their people to interview or is there still hope for those who have not heard yet. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

To be honest, this is a bad sign for Michigan. Michigan gives out interviews almost the week they receive your application. As for other schools like Northwestern and Case, it could be a while because they take time to compare your application. Michigan seems to have a computerized system that if you reach a certain level, they will give you an interview right away. I remember after I applied to Michigan I received an interview less than a week later, and I have heard that story a lot here.

Don't give up hope though if that is your school of choice. But I have to be honest, of all schools, waiting for weeks for Michigan to give you an interview is not a good sign because they are SUPER fast--almost immediate.

That's not necessarily true, multiple people on this forum have mentioned that although Michigan has a screening system to give people automatic interviews, people have gotten them like 2-3 months after their file was complete because umich actually read their files and deemed them okay for interview. I would still keep Michigan on the list, but do not get your hopes up.

I spoke with the admissions office at Case during my interview. She told me that they had already sent out all of the invites for the interview season and that the only ones that would still be sent out in the near future were the apps on hold for Aug MCAT scores. But this was ONE person that told me this, so take it with a grain of salt.

I really hope this isn't the case...I really like CWRU and was complete there on 10/4...I hope they'll grant me an interview.

This is Case Western Reserve, but like a said, this was ONE person that said this. So who really knows the truth in it.

Yeah, me three! I know that the committee has reviewed my app already, because they e-mailed me asking for transcripts but I haven't heard jack since. No one's posted U Mich rejections yet, but I'm afraid I'll be holding a ticket to Rejectionville soon.. 🙁 Especially seeing as how their interviews are already booked through February.

Plus, I also haven't heard jack from Pitt or UVa (come on Virginia, show me some love!).

This does suck.

Oh, to try and answer your question, curiouslygeorge, I think most of us who turned in our secondaries in late August/early September should be hearing now through December about interviews and whatnot. I think people who turn in their secondaries later and/or are August MCATers also will hear later, until Jan/Feb unless they totally rocked the MCAT.

However, I know a doctor who didn't get an invite until January, a place to which he ultimately got accepted at.

Hope that helps... 🙂

april interviews are the latest i have heard.

I don't think it's true. I turned in my application back on 9/9, and I just got an interview invite in the mail today (dated 10/11). So they are still sending out invites. Don't worry... you'll be OK. 👍

Well, everyone gets a secondary, but only around 40% get LOR requests after intial review. I think there is another thread out there with more specific info about that.
