Hi all,
I was wondering, I'm still not complete at all of the schools I applied to, although I've been complete at most schools with secondaries in around 9/15, but my prehealth committee just sent out the letters today, and I presume it should take about a week or so to get to the schools. How late is late?? Is anyone else still waiting to be still complete?

Don't worry. Right now is 'middle'/'average.' I just sent out one of my letters to UCSF today... (because I was dumb and forgot that I listed someone on the application but forgot to initially send off the letter)

I'm still waiting to be complete at 3 schools (NYU... taking forever... Harvard, and UCSF)

I'm still waiting on nyu too. I submitted all my material 9/10 and still waiting...

Yes.

The MSTP people said they received my letters (about 2-3 weeks after I sent them out) and told me to expect to recieve a confirmation from the MD office. I called the MD office today, and they told me that processing time was about 6-8 weeks right now.

Is it too late to be doing and submitting secondaries? I've been working on them since, like, July, and as I'm applying to nearly 20 schools, I'm still not done. I hope to be done within the next week or two, though.

If your interested in the remaining schools I'd say go for it. You have amazing stats and experience, so frankly I think it's never too late for you. (Although I know you say you are intimidated by the other 30 or so people who are applying from your school... If they can top you, I have serious doubts as to their humanity) If your not sincerely interested in the remaining schools, I wouldn't bother. I seriously doubt that you need to apply to 20 schools. Just my opinion, though. Good luck finishing everything up! 😀

I do not think it is too late to be working on secondaries. Some of the deadlines for secondaries are dec 1, so even if you submit today you are still 2 months before the deadline! Of course, the november deadlines you want to be getting in asap. Not everybody submits their amcas on the first day and finishes secondaries in july, don't worry.

Thank you so much for the advice, Picklesali and Passion4atcg. I'm thinking of applying to a couple more schools (which have Dec. 1 deadlines) this weekend because I'm still interested in them, but holding off on the last two. This way I'll still have enough time to prepare for my next interview(s).

Picklesali, thank you for the words of encouragement. It's wonderful to get a broader perspective from here - where I go to school, it's all too easy to lose sight of what the norm is! As for the 30-odd applicants from my school... all I can say is that if you were to meet some of them, you might understand why I feel as I do. They're all so smart and accomplished, and many seem to have better grades than I do and/or more research experience, publications, etc. But then I remember that this is obviously out of my control - all I can do is nail these applications and interviews as far as I can.
