One of my pre-med buddies from undergrad just got his app complete (primary+secondary) for a med school today, October 10th. In the grand scheme of things, how late is this?

For MD schools? Really late.

For DO? Still plenty of time.

MD. He's already had an interview at another MD school.

His primary was completed and verified back in July I think.
He got most of his secondaries out in August but this last secondary of his (to my school) had an issue with getting the "complete secondary" status and he just got word today that his app is complete.

I want him to go here lmao, is it realistic for me to hope he gets in here? How often do you hear of people succeeding in getting into a school this late in the game?

He's bi-lingual, 508/3.85, emt 2 years, dope research, etc. for reference

Its late not but not suicidally so. As for his chances at a specific school, there is no way to no. He is now at the bottom of a big pile of application, weeks away from review, all while finite interview slots dwindle away

I'm curious, when is suicidally late? I had a friend who submitted every single one of her secondaries in December last year before the deadlines. She didn't get in, but that for sure was suicidal 🙁 Another friend submitted in October with a 501, 506 and got into Rosalind so who knows? This process is interesting sometimes lol

This process is unpredictable, unless you have great connections. Nothing is guaranteed, and a great score sometimes doesn’t mean jack sh**

Yeah, I guess so. I feel like there is an element of luck in there too.

I wasn't complete at the school I currently attend until November. He's probably hurt his chances being this late but depending on the school it could still turn out fine.

For reference, my school interviews all the way into March and I have several friends who interviewed then and managed to slide in.

Hoping he gets in, I could always use another drinking buddy 😉
