how long after inteview until you get/or don't get an acceptance letter...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Great friend of mine was applying to a very competitive PA program last year and it was explained to him like this...

After the interview, each candidate is placed into one of three categories:
1. very desirable; acceptance letter or phone call sent within days
2. desirable; acceptance letter sent in weeks
3. not so much; rejection sent in a month

Albeit one programs method is not indicative of the entire system, in my opinion, it is a good yardstick. One factor that might lengthen the delay could be whether or not the school used a rolling admission process, which in my example above was not the case.

Both of my schools were similar: one said everyone would find out yes/wait list/deferred 2-1/2 weeks later, and the other said everyone finds out in 7-10 business days.

One of the schools is rolling admissions, and the other non-rolling.

Neither lets the accepted know earlier than the denied at my schools.

Definately depends on the school. When you go to an interview session, don't leave without asking this questions. I wouldn't ask it during your individual interview, but during the orientation, closing or while talking with staff might be a good time. A good interview session should have this answered in my opinion but sometimes you have to ask.

I'm pretty sure it takes 5.34 years to not get the acceptance letter.
