I was late to submit my applications- it was this past Weds. All the programs I have applied to (12) have downloaded my app but I've yet to hear anything either way. Is this normal?
Should I take the lack or response as a bad sign and apply more broadly?😕

You only loaded this last week....I'd relax and just wait. If you think your application is weak, however, you may want to apply to more programs. 12 applications is fine in psych, but I'd say it is better to apply to more programs and then decline interviews rather then undershoot.

thanks for the response. My applications if relatively strong...except for one glaring problem- I took step 1 three times before I passed. I had only one 'B' during 3rd and 4th year and did relatively well (229) on step 2. Lots of honors, awards, offices, etc.

So with the above info should I assume I should apply to more programs?

The 229 is a great score on Step2. But taking step1 three times may raise some eyebrows depending on where you applied. IMHO, it can never hurt to apply to more programs. If you only applied to 12 of the "top" programs, you might be putting yourself at risk. Remember, you can always not go on all the interviews you are offered. Obviously, you should also take any advice you get on this forum with a grain of salt. With that said, I would lean toward applying broadly to give yourself the most options....Good luck!

Thanks Chimed,

I applied to a broad range of schools (4 did not fill last year) but I think I'll wait till next week then go ahead and apply to more. Your right- it is cheap to apply and if I get lucky and get more interviews than expected I can always back out.

Thanks again!
