I have an interview coming up and its definitly my first choice. How long after you interviewed did you find out if you got in or not?

To be quite honest I think USUHS is one of those schools that really weeds out applicants before the interview invite. If you get the interview and you show intelligence, enthusiasm and a sincere interest to "deal" with the military life style and medical system you should be golden (assuming the service you rank 1st has slots open). Don't stress it too much. Also if your getting an interview this early in the cycle it probably means you look good on paper (now just make sure you appear well rounded in person).

Sorry if this post sounds like a thread hijack.

For those of you who are planning to interview at usuhs, what are you going to wear. Do most people wear suits or military outfits?

I found out in about 4 weeks.

At my interview people already in the service, in ROTC, or at service academies tended to wear their uniforms. Everyone else wore suits.

I agree that a lot of the "weeding out" seems to occur pre-interview.

Good luck 🙂 If you have any questions let me know!

USUHS told me to wear a uniform.

On another USUSHS acceptance topic. I am separating from the army this year, but am also applying to USUHS. (the short of it is that I want to be a doctor, and if I don't get into USUHS I would like to do a civilian program, so to keep my options open I am getting out).

I didn't seek out permission from the army or my branch to apply as I have already been given permission to separate.

I will be in the IRR upon separation this year…my question: do I still need permission from my branch (i.e. Signal, MI, Infantry) in order to switch to the medical corps even though I am separating from the army?

Hopefully the question makes sense...

I was in ROTC and didn't wear a uniform but wore a suit. I don't know if that hurt or not. I'm not there now, but I love my school, so it worked out the best. 🙂

It took them 6 weeks because they got backed up when I had my interview. But this early in the cycle they shouldn't be backed up. It's strange, because I heard from three schools within 2 weeks each if I had been accepted. I don't know why they take so long.

elderjack,

Don't know if you already know but... IRR no permission required; SELRES unit CO can grant; Active duty, permission required via God>Pres>Joint Chiefs>Halle Berry>Battalion>Company>Unit CO> in triplicate keep fingers crossed, expect it to get lost eight times.

Thanks for your input. That is good to hear that I am in a fine position in the IRR.

Does anyone know if USUHS typically starts sending out acceptances Oct 15th or do they wait longer till they have interviewed more folks?

Well, from personal experience at this point, I know the answer to this question. And it seems to be a while at this point in the application cycle.

🙂

Interviewed 9.27 accepted 10.23. Not too bad. They will call you if you get accepted.

Eight days. I found out on August 2 that my application was complete and got an invite for interview on the 10th.

I interviewed at the 2nd interview day back in '09 and found out shortly after 10/15 the first day MD schools can accept people. I heard the wait was more around 6 weeks as they started to get backed up.
