I contacted AMCAS with a question like that to which they responded; "Oh, were supposed to do that? Wouldn't it just be easier for you send out copies of your app? Peace.AEKDB.

I want to be verified :( ! I wish I had the time during weekdays to sit on the phone waiting for an answer.

I submitted early in July!

Some people have had luck with their own sternly worded letter to Dr. Cohen, president of AAMC. Others have already resorted to having their lawyers send letters. Myself, I'm going with a lawyer's letter. It's going out tomorrow.

As for why your app hasn't been transmitted, choker, there could be any number of reasons, chief of which is that apparently the majority of the schools aren't set up to receive complete electronic transmission yet, so AMCAS has resorted to sending a variety of different things to them, both electronic and paper, so the schools are floundering around trying to keep track of it all. They could very well have paper copies of your app that just haven't been opened yet and/or entered into their databases. How are you ascertaining transmittal? You're not going by those dates on your app, are you?

Actually i AM going by the dates on my app. Why? what do you know? what are those dates actually supposed to mean? what do they really mean? goddammit. WHY DID I APPLY EDP TO MED SCHOOL??? ARGH!!!! I WOULDN'T BE SO GODDAMN LATE.

sorry for the rant. but im really pissed off i didn't get in EDP.

Well this is THE year to be late! Procrastinators (and EDP) rejoice!

Those dates just mean that AMCAS transmitted your intent to apply to those schools along with some VERY basic info like name, address, phone, e-mail and state residency. As far as I know there is no way to tell whether they've transmitted your verified app to the schools without calling the schools.

BTW, you should be darned grateful that you applied EDP, as at least you're verified, unlike the vast majority of us.

no one really knows how long they take to send our apps to schools.

A "specialist" told me if you have the red X' s this means your app has been transmitted to schools which have the capability to recieve an electronic transmission. They send paper copies of the verified app to all of the other schools. Who knows if this info is accurate. I suspect there is some truth to it because I am all of a sudden I exist in Stanford's system (deduction: Stanford is able to recieve electronic transm) and Ohio State has nothing but my original unverified app that they recieved in August (deduction: OSU is not one of the schools that can recieve.../Actually I already knew this about OSU because they specifically told me some weeks ago EVERYTHING they have is paper)* (I checked my status at these 2 schools on the same day)

Hi Guys,
I was just wondering about these red x's. I don't have them but at the very end of my printed app it lists schools I applied to and "date transmitted from AMCAS to school". All the dates are different (Chicago is last listed as 9/30 - I submitted 7/27) So if the schools received transmissions what is the point of getting verified. My processing date is still N/A and the certification and transmission box is unchecked. Just wondering what you guys think.

Hmm, As I said before, those dates only mean that VERY preliminary info about you is transmitted to the schools -- like name, address, phone, e-mail address. It's basically a heads-up to the school that you're applying there and nothing more. It may get you a secondary if they're not screening.

Oops... sorry SMW, that's what I get for skimming.
