I took some courses in 2002, and will be applying for admission to the fall 2012 class. Will courses from 10yrs ago even count toward my GPA? None of those courses were pre-reqs or science, but they were A's and I can use all of em I can get

Every college class you have ever taken is used in your gpa.

Agreed, ALL classes count towards your GPA. The problem comes with pre-reqs. Many med schools require that pre-reqs be completed in the last X years. The number varies from school to school, but 10 years is a pretty good average for most schools.
