How long are rotations at your program?

When I was on the interview trail, I remember most programs having rotations that were generally 2-3 months long. I thought that it might be interesting to see what the length of rotations are at various institutions, and more importantly, what would be your preferred length if you could choose. Our PD is very receptive to any comments or requests that we have so there is a potential to slightly alter the length of our rotations for next year. For those of you who want complete anonymity and would rather not state your program, that's cool too. I'll start...

University of Wisconsin: 10-11 weeks/block (52 weeks/5 blocks)
Personally, I think that two months would probably be ideal for my liking b/c towards the end of a rotation I am ready to learn something new and move on to the next rotation.

Drexel:

Typically 3 months, but the PD is very flexible to change. I'm in my last year and this year decided to do Four two month blocks so I could intersperse my 4 elective months.

2-3 months is perfect, depending on how disease sites are split up. For instance, 2 months of breast or prostate is plenty, IMO.

For those of you who are at programs with rotations that are 2-3 months, how exactly would that work? It seems like it could potentially be a scheduling nightmare if the blocks were of different lengths b/c it could be certainly be problematic if not all residents switched rotations at the same time.

For those of you who have 2 month rotations do you feel like it is too short to feel like you have a certain level of mastery of the disease site (i.e. could treat patients independently) and the literature?

Conversely, for those who have 3 month rotations, do you feel like, "Wow...if I see another stage IA IDC or a DCIS, I think I am going to go crazy!"
