You just have to assess the situation/conversation your in, and whatever feels right. But if you are breaking ~3 mins, i think thats too much.

i honestly think it should be 1-2 mins, i think a mistake poeple make is starting way to far back that adds a bunch of time and it isn't that helpful

<30 seconds. I don't get the point of talking for a long period of time.

I just say one or two basic sentences. If they want more info then they can go ahead and ask a follow-up question.

it depends on how fast you speak😉
the pre-dent advisor at my school recommended elaborative answers.
personnally i think you'll lose the interviewer's attention if you go on for too long and go into too much details. but if your response is too short, it'll look like you are too lazy to offer a serious answer.

Haha! Me too!! It literally feels like something takes over my body and does the talking for me and then I struggle to remember what I said afterwards. Hopefully it was good!

For the Why dentistry: Well anywhere from 3-4 minutes for me.... I just keep going without even thinking about it. For one interview, they actually stopped me and said that it was a good answer (and I was barely halfway done)....so it is working.

For the Tell me about yourself: 1 minute to a max of 2.

You don't have to answer very quickly, if you come across a question where you get stumped, just say: "That's a good question, let me think about that", and this should buy you some time. Some schools offer mock interviews from people who are professional interviewers. They are brutally honest and very, very helpful, I highly recommend it if your school offers it. To answer your question, I wouldn't go beyond a minute which is a long time when your in front of an interviewer. Remember, they had to go through the same process. They understand the person being interviewed is nervous, just be yourself; that was the advice I got from many dentists beforehand.

i answered every interview question with a yes or a no, nothing more nothing less (jk). but i agree with the poster before that after the interview, it was really hard to recall exactly what i had said.

I'd say anywhere from 20-120 seconds. More than that seems like a REALLY long time, at least without a follow up question or back and forth dialogue.

I feel like interviews are like the scene in Old School when Will Ferrell is debating James Carville and he just spits it out in one breath and then says "what just happened, I blacked out". I only remember like 2 questions that anybody asked me.

It all worked out though, thankfully!

maybe its just me, but none of my responses were too long at all... i was very to the point in my interviews.. most of my interviewers commended me on not being someone who was trying to sell themselves, when all they really wanted was to see who the person was behind the app
