Hi,

I just submitted my application for the 2007 class. Do y'all have an approximate time in which you heard from the schools regarding your application and/or interview. i will be shadowing 2 pods next week and probably for a few weeks. I have requested other LORs, transcripts, and MCAT scores to be sent.

I am reading that most don't contact you until they receive all of your transcripts, etc.

i just recently found out about podiatry. I was also under the impression it was a subspecialty in the MD field. I guess I should have done a little more research. Anyway, I got really interested when I saw that there was a little bit of everything that you may encounter as a podiatrist.

Plus, I like some of the flexibility involved depending on how you want you workload to be.

Anyway, if you guys have any advise on the application process, please feel free to post...🙂

Has anyone attended any of the internship programs? I was interested in the one at Ohio and NYCPM. I am also thinking about the one at Temple Univ. I like the idea of the free ones. But would like to check out NY 🙂

thanks!

This is not always true. It was so long ago I don't remember the turn around but they will invite you for an interview w/o a complete file. They may not accept you until everything is there though.

Do you recommend bringing that info (ie transcript, LOR, etc) with you to the interview, if they have not received it by your interview date?

If you have no other option, but I would suggest send prior to your interview. The interviewer generally likes to read those things before they talk to you.

I received interview invites to 5 of the 8 schools within a few days of applying (Barry within 6 hours) and thats before they received my official transcripts and all LORs. For me they had all items by the time I interviewed but I also brought along copies just in case. I'd advise you to do the same. Alot of the schools will also give you a conditional acceptance contingent on the fact that you must send in all missing materials before matricualtion. Good luck.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Be very suspect of schools that offer acceptance with out all info about you.

Yes it is nice to be accepted easily, and you know that you are an ethicla hard working person, but what about who your classmates end up being? If it is so easy to get in, then by sure there are people that do not belong that you'll be with for 4 years, they do not all fail out.

I did the internship at Ohio and I found it to be a great experience. You get to spend the week shadowing third and fourth year students at the clinic and the VA hospital, talk to current studets, professors, and doctors. Everyone was very helpful and I learned a lot the week that I was there. I would highly recommend that if you are interested to attend one of the programs if possible.

It's unfortunate but true. Compared to the rigors of the MD/DO application process, it seems getting into Pod school is a piece of chocolate cake. Barry in particular is pretty bad. Everyone I've talked to has gotten an email invite same day as applying and everyone I know that's gotten an interview has also been accepted. Everyone I interviewed with at Barry got accepted the same day, as well as an offering of scholarship money. Seems somewhat desperate if you ask me...but that's only my opinion. No offense to anyone.

I'm glad to hear that the program is worth attending. I hope to be able to attend. I also hope to hear from the schools once my transcripts, etc start arriving.

So, does anyone else have a time frame on how long it takes to hear from schools regarding an interview?

thanks🙂

Within 2 weeks I had interviews setup. But that was back in September, so I'm not too sure how it is now though. Maybe someone who applied more recently can help you. But it probably won't be too long anyways.

funfeet,

which schools did you get invites from?

I am interested in DMU, Scholl, Temple, Ohio, California, and NYCPM. do you have any opinion on these schools? Obviously, you liked Scholl this best. What made you pick Scholl over any other school you may have interviewed at?

thanks

I applied to Ohio, Scholl, and Temple and I had interviews set up within two weeks. That was back in September, so I don't know how it will be now. Good luck!

I applied to all 8 schools and had interviews set up within 1 week for Barry, Scholl, Temple, NYCPM, and Ohio. I applied at the end of January. Good luck.

do you have a favorite in the bunch? i just called Temple and they said that the incoming 07 class will be about 88 people. the class is about 1/2 full.

I talked to Meghan at DMU and she said the class size will be about 50 and they are a little more than half full and they are still interviewing. But they didn't have my application yet, possibly due to weather plus it was only submitted on Feb 15th. Got to be patient :scared:

so hopefully, I will have a chance. i only applied to 6 of the 8 schools. i hope i didn't apply too late.

Let me know which one you decide on. I'm in TX and am planning on attending OCPM. By the way, I applied to all 8 and had interview invites to all within a week or so, but I applied in November. Oh, and OCPM lets you know before you leave the interview day if you are accepted or not.

My favorite was Temple. I got my acceptance letter last Friday and now I'm about to send in my deposit to hold my spot. I don't think you applied too late. It may be too late or may be getting too late for Arizona as their class size is only about 30-something I think, but don't quote me on that. You're right about Temple having about 87 or 88 and I doubt it's filled up yet. NYCPM has about 120 or somewhere around there, and I also doubt they're filled up too. Just try and schedule your interviews as soon as possible and you should be fine. As long as you're in before the start of April I dont think you have too much to worry about. Good luck! :luck: Feel free to PM me if you need any more help.

I only applied to Scholl. It was in late Jan; they responded within two days that they had received my app and in another two business days sent me an interview invite. But, the interviews were already being scheduled for March and April, so for me, I haven't had my interview yet. I would think that you would hear pretty soon. Don't worry. As was said, there are fewer hoops as long as you have a sincere interest🙂 Good Luck!
