It did not end that late if I remember correctly. You can catch a bus right in front of UPMC and it will take you to the airport directly. I noticed somebody leaving early to catch the flight without admissions knowing, but there was a writing sample at the end of the interview!

530 flight will be fine. Rose suggests for you to get a flight 2 hours after the last event which means no earlier than about 530. PIT is a hike from the city...30-45 minutes w/o traffic.

I had a similar situation. I had called the shuttle system from the airport in the morning right before the interview (they are open 24 hours, I believe). I arranged to be picked up around 3:15, and the driver even came ten minutes early. My interview even ran late (I was the last one to finish my writing sample too). I wouldn't recommend the bus -- you never know what could happen, alot of stops, etc. The shuttle is more expensive (twenty bucks) but I got there with plenty of time to spare. Hope that helps.
