The title says it all...

Can I still use the GPA even if it has been 3~5 yrs since graduating??

What's the ad com's take on this??

i don't know how ad com perceives gpa after 3-5 years from undergrad. to be on the safe side, you can to take some science classes at a community college. most students who haven't been in school for 3 or moe years go through a masters program or a post-bac program (this is also to improve their gpa). but if you've taken the mcat recently and the score is high above 30 rang then no need to worry 🙂

I'm pretty sure it lasts forever since you're supposed to report any post-secondary classes that you've taken. I don't think you would ever be in a situation where your GPA would no longer be valid just because it was from a few years ago.

I see... that's good to know they last forever

Not that it would matter much...but..
MCAT scores, on the other hand, last only 3 yrs right?

You should've stopped there.

What if you were doing volunteering/community services/abroad after you graduate.....I mean I ain't exactly planning to bum around after I graduate..

Do adcoms expect you do apply as soon as you graduate from college? Is it perceived negatively?

there's a whole section of this forum for nontrads, many of whom have breaks between UG and applying. years and years in some cases. yes, they will still look at your UG gpa.

No, what you're talking about is fine. As long as you're doing something other than watching TV and picking your nose during your gap year(s), they won't care. In fact, it's MUCH better to take a gap year to build up your application than it is to end up as a re-app after you submit with a lackluster resume.

look at the schools' stats. some of them have huge percentages of their students who did not come right from college.

if you have spent your time well, it definitely increases, not decreases, your chances.
