How long is too long...

to wait to ask an attending for a LOR? How far out can you be from a rotation and still ask for a LOR without them thinking you shouldn't be asking for one?

Any thoughts?

I'd try to get the attending pinned down at the end of the actual rotation. That way, you can remind them when you need it. I'd ask one within a month of the rotation ending at the latest.

Obviously sooner is better as they will likely remember you a little more and be able to say something that is meaningful. However, I know many people that asked for all their letters at the end of the year and still got decent letters in the end. So... I dont think it is ever to late to ask. They can always say no...
