How long the school gives the applicant to accept or reject?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It depends on the school. I think Tufts gives you a month or so.

Tufts gives you 30 days and UOP gives you 45 days. That's all I know so far.

I'll give you USC's schedule, maybe other schools follow the same time frame. You must send a deposit to secure your spot.

  • accepted between DEC 2 and DEC 30 --> 45 days
  • accepted between JAN 1 and FEB 1 --> 30 days
  • accepted between FEB 1 and JUL 1 --> 15 days
  • after JUL 1 --> 1-5 days
  • second deposits for everybody --> MAY 1
  • $hit loads of additional money --> every trimester for consecutive 4 years.

I believe a majority of the schools use the schedule posted above by shawnOne. I think it is what the ADA or ADEA recommends or something like that.

Remember that some schools are willing to work with you especially if you have scholarly stats. Some will use ridiculous deposits to tie you into making decisions whereas some will not request a deposit (Harvard and San Antonio and coincidentally also very reputable institutions)

EVERY school is obligated to follow this. Therefore, most of you will receive your acceptances on Dec 1, which means you have 45 days to pay the deposit.

This is the universal standard.
