How long 'til I get the I-20 form?

After I've submitted by financial proof to the school, they're supossed to enter that into the SEVIS database. Then I'm supossed to get my I-20 form.

So, how long after showing the money will I have to wait for my I-20? 😕

I know Sam and Tasha could tell me right away, but they're not here yet. 🙁

sorry meggs i cant help u with ur question. but i am just curious abt the amount u have to show for ur students visa. is it the standard 70,000+ for every school or does it differ frm school to school?

It depends on how soon the school will enter the information into SEVIS and the shipping method. Under the New SEVIS system, once the school enters the required information into the SEVIS database, the I-20 can be printed instantly.
So keep contacting the school to know the status of your I-20.

it takes up to 4 weeks.
3 if your'e lucky. but it shouldnt take more than that.

it is one year of tution + living expenses + transportation + medical expenses for a school. It should be different for each school.

If the school has a good system and are efficient, you should get the I-20 in no time.

say I score well enough in my part I this time.....and they call me for interview....and I clear that too.....all with a BIG if.......so my oct....IF i have the admit......fill the form.....show the financial support and all that.....and nov first week get the I-20......for the course to start in April.....technically Sep but summer course in April.....then whats the best time to apply for a student visa......asap......or wait till say Jan-Feb.......just wondering....since all my decent score and clearing of interview are all big IF!

I don't know when's the best time to apply, but take into account two facts:
1. I-20 form expires within 6 months of issuing.
2. With student visa the earlier you're allowed into the states, is 30 days before class start. Pre 9/11 it used to be 90 days.

hi guys
I am in trouble here
I filled the AFCOE form for issuance of I20 and the lady is asking me two questions in which I am very coonfused
1 Do you want I20 to issued for the change of status in USA ?
2 Are you going back to your home country to get F1 visa?

Now I asked her for the change of status in USA but she is confusing my mind by saying that it takes 1 to 4 month for the status to be changed in USA and if it does not happen before the school starts then i am not elegible for attending school as a full tiem student.
I spoke to INS and they said that it takes 1 to 1 and half month for it.

I am confused guys please help me if soem one has already experienced some thing like this earlier .....because it is difficult in India to get F1 visa they reject for no reason...

What is your current status? If u r on H4 already, then u can study but not on F2.

My wife had applied for change of status and it took about a month to change it and my wife's friend has also applied to change the status and she is waiting for over 4 months now. Both cases were for change of status from H4 to F1. It is better if u change status in usa then going back.

Hey there Meggs!!!! Hoe are you doing?? I sent you a PM with the answer to your question but I'm also putting it here, for anyone else who needs to know. I sent the application for the I 20 along with the initial check, and since I was among the last batch of students to get accepted, I requested that they expedite (speed up) the process of sending me the form.. I got it in a week. They said that the I20 is being sent between 1-3 weeks these days. Hope this helps.. good luck, and XOXOXOX from chilly philly!!!!
