Say a person whose background is only AP Biology in high school wanted to learn all of the MCAT bio material (without organic chemistry) - how long would it take him if he has 8-10 hours a day free to study?

By "learn" I don't mean having every detail memorized, but instead having enough knowledge to be comfortable with solving MCAT biology questions.

I would think that there's no way it'd take longer than 120 hours of studying to learn all of the MCAT biology material (there's really not THAT much). At 8 hours a day, that's about 2 weeks.

How long would it take you to read a 200 page text 4 times and do about 600 practice problems in the form of passages? That would be my answer 😛

Hahah good answer. I'd say 200 pages x 4 divided by (8 hours * 10 pgs/hr) = 80 hours or 10 days. 600 practice problems divided by (52 questions per 70 minutes which is the MCAT rate, 8 hours a day) = 13.5 hours or about 2 days.

About a week and 5 days.

Add in time to review those problems 😛

Edit: and just realized I actually did 1001 problems. Forgot I finished that book.

I never really learned Biology and had to teach myself over the summer at night after my full time job. Using Kaplan and Exam Kracker books it took about 2-3 weeks to learn the basics of everything I thought I should know for the MCAT. Working 8 hours a day you should be able to do it in considerably less time and learn many more details than I was able to. Good Luck.

3 weeks if you want to learn it and remember it. It's a lot of material... I would recommend using several study books on biology if all you've had is AP.
