does it usually take to do all the pre-med requirements (Biology, Org & Inorg Chem & Physics)? Can it be managed in a year (or at least enough of the classes to get through the MCAT)?

Also, anyone do the Harvard Extension Course? Is it any good and can that be done in a year? And if you do really good at the Harvard Extension... does that give you more credibility in getting into Harvard Med?

I just really don't want to have to take another year out if I don't need to. Thanks for any help!

Typically students do the 4 classes over 2 years at Harvard ES. There are very few (due to the rigor of the coursework) that do it over one summer and and one calander year, although it is possible. The advisors do not tell students to do it that way, they prefer the 2 year option.

If you do well in the courses and on the MCAT you will have just a good a shot as anyone. There is no linkage between HES and Harvard Medical School, so no there is no preference during admissions.
