If you shadow a doctor for a year or so, should you ask for a LOR right then, or a year later when you are actually applying to Optometry School?

And also, how do they work exactly? I've heard something about them going through your school for confidentiality?

Thanks in advance!

LORs are all sent to a centralized system now OPTOMCAS, which will then distribute them to the schools you apply to. That being said you should ask for the letter of reference when you apply, they can fill out an online form or mail it to OptomCAS, online is faster for everyone.

You want to have LOR's from:
1 Optometrist (Ophthalmologists aren't accepted at most Optom schools)
2 Science Professors (1 Academic committee is sometimes accepted)
1 Volunteer/Research/Extracurricular coordinator
