Most people retook 0, which is not an option here
Calm people. I assumed if you retook 0 courses, this poll wouldn't necessarily apply to you.
0--would have considered it a failure to repeat a course.

Uhhg... I'm a super failure then.

I saw your other thread on this. It sounds like you have a lot of retakes but I really wouldn't worry about it. I don't know about individual schools like DMU, but the policy is here for a reason.
I've currently got about 10-12 retakes under my belt, with a few more retakes by year's end for good measure, applied pretty late this cycle, and have 4 interviews so far. My before/after stats are eerily similar to yours. I think admissions committees are generally more concerned about whether or not you're able to handle a full, science-laden course load. Doing well in a post-bacc helps convince adcoms that you do have what it takes upstairs, past circumstances be dammed, and the years you've spent treading water helps to show the dedication you have towards medicine. Just my .02

Dbizzy, I appreciate your input. I'm not worried at all about the ridiculous number of retakes I have, I'm just interested in seeing how many other people were/are in a similar boat. Thanks again and good luck on your interviews!

No problem, best of luck to you as well 👍

But I want to be a part of the conversation even if I add nothing to it. 🙁:cry:Calm people. I assumed if you retook 0 courses, this poll wouldn't necessarily apply to you.

Triage, come on now buddy, you're always welcome.

I would say that for majority of people they indeed did FAIL a course and therefore are retaking it...
I retook 4 classes--2 at my current school and 2 at my previous one.
I have taken so many classes, from CC, to undergrad university, to grad school, and now post-bac. I have counted a total of 7 C's and a bunch of A's and B's. I'm considering 8 retakes and apply for the 2014 cycle in an attempt to bring the GPA to around a 3.6ish for DO and a 3.4ish for MD. I honestly don't know my exact GPA calculation for all my combined courses, so I need to handle that GPA calculator soon. I don't know. We'll see, since I'm close to finished with the science load, and I want to prep for the MCAT. Ugh.
