recieved a 4-year degree upon acceptance? Or did you just finish up the 2 years of pre-reqs and went right in? If so, what was your GPA and PCAT scores? If you didn't get accepted, what would you have done? Start working on your bachelors and reapply the next year? Will it be easier to get accepted with you have a bachelors?

i am graduating this year with a bachelor of arts in psychology; it will help you a lot

I did not receive a bachelor's degree, and got in after the two years. My GPA and PCAT scores were pretty high though, so I suppose that made up for my lack of experience. My original plan was actually to obtain a bachelor's before getting in, but I decided to just try it anyway for the heck of it since it wouldn't really hurt. But yes, it is easier to get into pharmacy school with a baccalaureate degree. However, don't let that discourage you from at least trying... you're not gonna lose anything but maybe a few bucks in application fees.

i recently got accepted and i had a bachelor's degree

I already had my AA, when I decided to start pharmacy prereqs. Since that was going to take two years, I went ahead and got my BS in Biology at the same time.

It's definitly easier to get accepted with a bachelors, almost a requirement based on the applicant pool. Check out any of the statistics on pharmcas and the schools webpage. Generally it is ~99% of the class that has at least a bachelors.

I hate to break it to you, but nobody receives a degree upon acceptance. The only thing you receive is a piece of paper telling you that you can attend the school.

I had a BS before I was accepted. It is by no means a sure bet though. I also had a BS last year when I was DENIED! I know of a couple of people that were not accepted on their first try and worked on finishing their bachelors degree in the meantime and applied to pharmacy school again.
If you want to do a joint MBA/PharmD it is actually a requirement that you have a bachelors degree prior to joint admission (at least at Shenandoah where I'll attend).
Good luck! :luck: :luck: :luck:

i had already graduated with a bachelors when i applied for pharmacy school. my gpa was 3.5 and since i only applied to usc, i didn't need to take the pcat. although i think now they require you to take it...

People who did not get accepted on the first try, did you apply again to any of the school that rejected you first time.

Did you get the interview first time ? Anyone getting accepted to a school on the second try ?

Also did you rewrite the essays or sent the same essays ?

For me, it was the same school, I interviewed the first time, and I used an updated version of my essay since the prompt was the same. If I hadn't gotten an interview using that essay, I would probably have rewritten it. I knew my application was good enough to get tot the interview, so I didn't want to mess with it.

The pcat is still not required, but they will take your scores into favorable consideration if you do well on it. I also have a bachelors and didn't take the pcat.

I reapplied to several schools this year that I had not gotten into (or even interviewed with) last year. I reapplied to Nova, Mercer and Shenandoah and got accepted to all three. I rewrote my essay and brought up my GPA a little.

Because i'll go to NOVA for interview on March 9, can I ask you about yr experience at NOVA...?? do you like the school there, what impress you the most, there is NO writing section, right?? I tried to read posts about NOVA, but there wasn't much, so I would really appreciate if you can give me some infor..Thanks in advance...

I was one of the early assurance (GPPA) students at UIC. I only did two years of undergrad before matriculation.
I know UIC offers a PharmD/MBA and a PharmD/PhD program, and they only require 100 hours.
