I have decided to go all in on DO school. My stats are 515/3.5, so fairly good. I am currently complete at 2 DO schools, AZCOM and Western CA. I havent heard back yet. I am planning on applying to the following schools: rocky vista, Des Moines, UNE COM and Touro CA. I hope to finish the secondaries for these by the end of this week. After I finish, thatll be about 6 schools. I understand its not early in the season anymore, how many DO schools do people usually apply for? Since its getting a little late in the cycle should I apply to more?

Since we want to go all in on DO schools, apply to all since you do not want to gamble, even though your stats are very competive. I know that there are some schools that Goro does not recommend.

Give rocky vista a shot. I’m a current 4th year and when I applied I think my primary went in October and I did fine.

Yes I am definitely considering Rocky Vista, I am going to assume you are in the colorado campus as the utah campus just opened. Let me ask you, how do you feel about taking both the COMPLEX and STEP exams? Is it overwhelming? Do you take both are the same time or how does that work?

COMLEX. Didn't go to RVU, but taking both is manageable. Frustrating and costly, but manageable. The material you learn in medical school applies well to both, they are just different exams. Even if you don't end up at RVU, you should plan to take both.

I think applying to 6 will be fine. Based on your list, it seems like you want to stay away from the East coast (except UNECOM?), so you might consider KCUMB, SOMA, and KCOM. I don't think you need to apply to all schools. I do hope you applied broadly US MD though, because a lot of places might take you with those stats.

Yep Colorado campus. I love that we take both comlex and usmle. Most of us end up taking step 2 as well. We are really just studying for usmle the entire time and just cram OMT until comlex. They set you up for success. With how the current interview season is going, taking usmle is going to be more important in the next few years.

Idk I had a 505 MCAT and 3.8 GPA. I received interviews at 7 out of my 9 schools so far (all established, upper tier DO schools). You can PM me for a list, but I think your stats are perfectly fine for a handful of DO schools. I'd say no more than 6. You have a good chance at MD schools and are basically guaranteed a spot for DO as long as your EC's all match up and you don't screw up the interviews. But highly consider the tuition and where you would actually attend. Any other established DO school will take you as far as AZCOM will with half the debt... things to ponder. Cough KCU, DMU, PCOM

Unfortunately, I applied MD and have not received any interviews yet and have decided to go all in on DO. Thank you, I will PM you for some more information.

Thank you for your help. I will consider those schools and will also plan on taking both COMLEX and STEP exams.

For your stats, I would probably only do 5-6 that you would really be interested in attending

Thank you Goro, your help is always appreciated. so far my list is : Western CA, Rocky Vista, KCU, PCOM and possibly DMU. I actually just received an interview invite from Western so I no longer want to apply to too many schools as I probably wont be able to attend the interviews.
