How many grades of C's and lower have you got during college?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There was a thread just like this not a week ago...if you flip back a few pages you should be able to find it. If not use the search feature.

Here's the cliff notes...a few C's won't sink an application. Besides you're grades are in the past they cant be changed so why fret over them.

I have a BUNCH, a 3.4, 32 MCAT. it doesnt matter much though. i still got an interview at a top tier school. =P just work it.

Similar situation here, I had a 3.4 overall, and a 3.3 science, mostly due to some C's I had as a freshman all those many years ago. 32 MCAT and several "top school" interviews. And some MD acceptances.

You've got to be kidding me. Minority, I assume?

0 thus far. Still VERY early in the whole process though.

(knocks on wood)

C+ from calulus, D from biochem, D from political science, C from ecology, and 2 Ws for writing course (withdrew same course twice).
so i'm pretty much out of the game xD

beat THAT! :meanie:

so do all schools require a c or better in pre req classes or is that just the majority of schools, so one c- in gen. chem. 2 wouldn't slide?

C "Psychology and Law"

this would worry me if I wanted to attend law school

i have 3 C's and good mix of B/A

The only C I got in undergrad was for a one hour music aural theory class. It was basically keyboard and sight-singing and I didn't take it seriously.

I've got 2 C's thus far (2nd quarter sophomore)

1 C in genetics (teacher was a poor excuse for a...BEEEEEEP)

1 C+ in ochem (class was fair - my fault - I failed first two tests for lack of studying - did well above the average on the final but just wasnt enough to raise a D++ to a B- haha) 🙁

C in Calc III, C in Chem II, C in Phys 1, C in Economics, C in Ethics, F in Calc IV, W in Calc IV (x2). Overall GPA about 3.4 without retaking anything so far.

I win this thread.

At the point of my last C, I had a 2.6 GPA. But since then, here are my last twenty eight grades: A, A, B, A, A, A, A, A, B, B, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A-, A, A-, A-, A, A, B+, A, A, A.

So I am hoping this upward trend is of some help to me when applying (I'll have around 3.54 or so when applying).

lol. You do win this thread.
And for what its worth I think that you'll be fine when applying. I think there's something to be said for someone who was able to change a core behavior about themselves for the better. Good job dude. You kicked it.

I have.....3 C's. Ehhhhhh and all in the Sciences. C in bio 1 and gen chem 1 and a C+ in gen chem 2. At the end of freshman year my gpa was a 2.9. I'm hoping to pull my gpa up by the time I apply in June of 09. I didn't have any C's this semester so I hope to keep the upward trend going for the rest of my collegiate career. Managed to get a 3.7. :-D I've already decided to apply to some DO schools as well. Hey whatever gets me to be a Doctor is alright in my book....I think....I hope. OH GOSH pleeeeeeeaaaaasssseeee let me get into an Allo school.

Why would you assume that someone, with a 3.2 and a 32 MCAT, who got an interview would be a minority?

I can only hope we're somehow misunderstanding him, I mean . . . there's no way. (I hope)

Anyways, the only thing I have more of than C's are Q's (drops). No worries - overall GPA matters most.

lol...i guess it's sometimes to let others wallow in their own foolishness. you're right tho...over all GPA and application are more important.

I still have to question the amount of ignorant people on SDN, it's disgusting :shakes head:

I would NEVER let someone who got a C in college prescribe my medicine or perform surgery on me. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I think you should give up your acceptances and go to Chiropractic school. Bunch of no good lazy bums.

MAXPRIME I'M LOOKING YOUR WAY!

I would never let someone addicted to orange smack prescribe meds, I'm looking your way - CHEETOS!

(took me some time to figure out the Youtube tag 🙂 )

2 C's and 1 C+. One C was in Orgo 1 though, which I retook and got an A.

Only grades I care about are the ones I'm waiting for and I hope to god that they are above C's. (Was an A and a B+ before finals)...yay for slow grad grades...

 bravo my good man, I have been bested.

Look, if Obama can do drugs, publicly admit it, and still run for president then I think snorting some delicious cheese flavored snacks won't keep me out of Stewart.

One addict to another, make sure your friends don't swap out your stash for those fiery hot cheetos - not cool man, not cool.

I'm hardcore, flaming hots are all I snort. In fact I'm off to buy some right now...

i have never had less than a C on an exam or quiz grade in college.. Im also an alcoholic, helps me deal with the stresses of college.😀

C's in : Gen Chem II, Calc II (Retake), Physics (Retook and got another C), O Chem Lab, Microbiology.

D in O Chem I, Calc II.

I think I'm at least top 5 in this thread.

Alright..... beat this........ an F in calculus

F
F
F

So after I stopped breathing for a few secs I burst into this tear/giggle frenzy.... and I do NOT regret it...... my teacher was the yeti and sometimes I wished he would drop dead during class.

Just going to retake the class. Life goes on.

So far 3. I'm retaking one class. But none are in science classes. I'm busting my butt to stay far away from C's in those, I'll do whatever it takes

3 C's in college so far, 1 C in Biology II (gosh I hated this class for some reason, and I'm a friggin BIO major!), another C in Intro to Microbiology (I will never take an 8 AM class again!), 1 C+ in Orgo I ( I was soooooo close to a B-, and he didn't give it to me! I have nightmares about it damn), overall GPA is 3.4, I will apply to osteopathic and allopathic, if I don't get it I will probably do a masters or a postbacc. I'm looking to rekindle the flame my getting an A in Orgo II in the spring, taking a microbiology class (regular not intro) and overall trying for a 4.0 this semester.

1 C in intro bio. retook it and got a B.. still couldnt pull off an A 🙁 but i got an A in biochem after that. *shrug*

Two C's: Gen Chem 3 and Diff Eq. Withdrew from an MBA program the first week of classes and dropped an MS in the middle of the thesis research.

Post-bacc's are wonderful inventions. 😳

there's a general chemistry 3????:scared:

C in genetics, sucks but I hear its not as bad because its not a prereq...just an upper division bio elective. Is this true, do C's look worse in the prereqs?

C+ P-Chem 1, Gen Chem III
C Cancer Bio

So, 3

I've gotten 5 C's and I found a med school. Don't listen to what other people say. If you are truly driven and this is what you really want to do it will show. There is far more to students than what is on paper. I'm not going to any fancy school, I'm going to a state school, and when I applied there was an F on my transcript due to an error which was not corrected until September.

Though I have interned at medical companies, spent a summer researching at a medical school, and volunteer 6 hours a week, and no, not at a hospital cause they make me do menial work that I don't feel is useful, I volunteer at the boys and girls club and local schools doing outreach work.

before anyone asks, yes I am a minority, however I am a 21 year old Asian male, so I doubt that helps me.

Quarter system obviously...I know it's hard to put it together.

Nope. Semesters. Gen Chem 1 was two hours, no lab. Gen Chem 2 was three hours, with lab. Gen Chem 3 was three hours, with lab. If you've had high school chemistry they'll let you jump right into Gen Chem 2 and give you credit for Gen Chem 1 if you pass -- so most pre-meds only end up taking two semesters of general chemistry.

Organic was in a sequence of three as well: Organic 1 Lecture, Organic 2 Lecture, and Organic Lab. What can I say? State school. 😛
