Per day?
Per week?
How many times a week if you don't study everyday?

Varies for what you're studying for I guess.
For undergrad?
The DAT?
Dental school?

Freshman year I studied a lot. I was taking 15 credits and studied 9 hours a day 6 days a week. I even studied over winter break. By the time I was a senior I studied a lot less, due to becoming more efficient and comfortable with how I learn. I also took less hours senior year as well. I studied maybe 2-3 days a week (maybe less) for a few hours. I had a tendency to cram more around test time because I could learn information much quicker than in previous years.

You can cram a day or two before exams and do well, but I noticed that I didn't retain as much after the exam was over. So, in dental school, I think it's important to do less cramming and more planning because you'll be using a lot of this information throughout the rest of your life.

As for how much you study--man, you just have to gauge the breadth and difficulty of the given course. You wouldn't spend 20 hours of studying on an intro to college exam, but you may spend that much on something such as biochem.

When people say "8-9" hours a day, I don't believe them. There's no way you're studying 8-9 hours a day (straight studying). Yes, you may "study" throughout the day, but that doesn't count if you take breaks/eat/jack-off in between. If you are, you're not studying efficiently.

For me, it really depends. I measure my raw studying hours in 25 min. intervals. I study for 25 mins, and break for 5-7 mins. I tally up the 25 mins to keep track. During exam season, it's usually 5-7 (at the max) hours of raw studying per day.

During the school year, maybe 2-3 max.

For every semester hour you are taking, multiply by 2-3. For example, if you are taking 12 semester hours, then a good 24-36 hours of studying per week. It seeeeeeems like a lot, but honestly I would spend a good hour or two on homework and I count that as a "study session", take a break, then go back at a different time interval and do more homework AKA "study session." Those stats (multiplying by 2-3) I derived according to the college prep course I took a while back before entering as a freshman, and so far I've gotten A's and still going strong!
