I've heard back from a lot of programs and have started to realize that I'll have to cancel or reject some invitations. I don't think I can go on more than 12 interviews. What about you guys? What is your cap/goal?

I have 14 interviews so far, but I am still waiting to hear from a few places. At the end, I think I would do about 10 interviews.

I think the rule of thumb is about 10. If u look in Frieda, u can see how many people were interviewed last year for that program. From my searches, I saw that for every resident, they interviewed 10-15 people.

I also asked a few residents, and they said to be secure, around 10 something is good. This obviously depends on where u apply and how competitive u are and if u made good impressions, etc. The point is, assuming u're in the same applicant pool as u're peers for those programs that u are interviewing, interview/ranking 10+ is pretty safe, though obviously not a guarantee.

Have 10, thinking of cancelling 1. It's my last one, and the more I hear through the grapevine about the program (working now with several residents who went there for med school), I'm thinking I'll be better suited elsewhere.

I'm going to try to do between 10-14. 14 seems like overkill but I'm doing it more for my own interest in checking out programs than a worry about not matching.
