How Many Interviews are you going on?

I'd like to know how many interviews you all are going on - I just can't do more than 12 - but my dean wants us to do 20! I don't even have 20 invites (I have 16) Anyone else doing less than me?

Even 12 is crazy high for psychiatry.

10 or 11, depending on whether someone cancels their Stanford interview so I can have their spot. I don't think my brain could tolerate much more than that. 20 is insane, unless maybe you're couples matching.

I agree and told him I'm not doing more than 12, he said thats fine - why do Deans send out these emails to scare the whole class? oy! The title of the email was "Colleagues that have received less than 11 invites" LOL How scary would that be to some people!!

I am going on 9 interviews, but only to see some of the programs and cities --kinda like a working holiday. I've told her before, but I'll say it again: "Poety's a machine"!

BTW, two down and seven to go -- four in the next week and a half!

Poety, you should relax -- you are going to be fine. Did your dean direct that email to all students, or just those applying to psych? While 20 interviews may be recommended for some specialties, it seems like overkill for psych. I haven't started applying yet, but the program director of our psych residency said that a large number of interviews is not required for psych. She told us that two or three would suffice, and that we would only need to do more interviews if we wanted to see more places. So it sounds like you are doing plenty! 😉

Thanks Rust, the email was addressed to the whole class - as they always are - but our dean likes to make us panic as well. Perhaps thats why in response to my email he said I'm fine going on 12. 🙂

I'm doing 10-12. I just had the most incredible experience at UCSF so it's going to be hard to do more, but I guess I need to be prepared. But, I started canceling left and right today.

Now that I've got interview trail bronchitis, I'm ready to cancel them all after Monday 🙁

I'm most likely only going to do three interviews. I want to stay within a certain geographic region, so I just see no reason to spend lots of time, money, and effort going lots of other places to interview. Furthermore, I can't see any reason to interview in places where my husband would have no good job opportunities.
