I applied to 35 schools; 30 of them are lower/middle tier. Among the schools I applied to are Rosalin Franklin, SUNY Downstate, Hofstra, Albany Medical College, The Commonwealth Medical College, Rush Medical College, etc. I applied in the first week of June.

Mcat= balanced 30R
GPA= 3.63
Science GPA=3.52
Nonscience GPA= 3.78

Personal statement- emphasis on compassion gained through volunteer experience

E.C.
1) Hospital volunteer- 4 years
2) Worked in 2 labs (1 was parkinon's disease and 1 is a molecular genetics lab with RNAi that I am currently working in)
3) Volunteer SAT instructor 4 a nonprofit organization

LOR- I assume they will be good- I knew my professors very well.

How many interviews can I realistically expect?

Literally an impossibility to say. I would say if you applied super early, well then maybe expect anywhere between 0-10 interviews.

Hah, hopefully more than zero. If he gets zero, I am so completely screwed that I should just apply Carribean right now.

I appleied with very similar stats last cycle and got 0 interviews.
I had less clinical experience , 2+ years of research, and community service.

Do you have non clinical volunteer experience? Might want to reconsider applying next cycle if you do not have this.

But I only applied to 15 schools, most of them reaches as well. (california schools)

Good luck to you!

Unleash500, in what month of the cycle did you apply? I applied in the first week of June.

Also what undergrad did you go to?

When did you apply? Also being a California resident means you should have been applying to a lot more then 15 schools.

Yeah I made the mistake of applying not broadly enough.
I sent my secondaries by mid August.

I think you would have a better chance than I did because you are applying to many more schools.

I went to a UC in California

Does applying early help alot? I sent some of my secondaries in already.

I'm starting to think that reading all these is just exacerbating my pre-med stress-induced ulcer! :scared:

Haha true indeed, Veekrey has probably developed several considering he has made 3 threads exactly the same thing freaking out, Im guessing he will get at least 2-3 interviews and a competitive shot at getting in considering he 1). applied early 2). applied to a lot of schools.

So veekrey stop freaking out theres nothing you can change now other than do your secondaries, add a few EC's in the fall (in case you dont get in you will have improved your app) and wait with the rest of us, best of luck to you all.

This.

I wanted to say something about the multiple threads - but you beat me to it, Bobcat.

Veekrey, you'll be fine - I'm sure you'll interview some places and get acceptances. I mean, considering your stats are VERY similar to mine, I sure hope so! Don't stress.

:luck:

what is considered applying "super early"? I submitted on 7/6.... is that considered late? plus my mcat score won't be in til roughly a month after i take in on July 29th.

Well basically you're at an advantage if you had your application and mcat all done by june. I mean you're not dead if you have it later, but the fastest win big.

:scared: I don't have any nonclinical volunteer experience.:scared:

No D.O. schools? If you get no love from any medical school (M.D. or D.O.) there is always podiatry,
